Ged Lawyers is a family-owned firm that began in 1995 and has been representing those who have been victims of accidents pursue financial compensation from large corporations in the nearly three decades since.
“We started this law firm to level the playing field between the consumer and the multi-billion-dollar corporation – either insurance company or pharmaceutical company – and to help the consumer recover what they’re rightfully owed from the wrongdoing of these corporations,” says Glen Ged Esq., one of the founders of Ged Lawyers.
We first opened in Florida but have offices in Massachusetts as well. Glen Ged is a graduate of New England School of Law.

How Common Are Bicycle Accidents?
According to People Powered Movement, a bicycle and pedestrian advocacy group, there were approximately 45,000 bicycle accidents in the United States in 2015. That year saw a decline from approximately 50,000 the year before.
The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that the vast majority of bicycle accidents in 2020 – 79% – occur in urban areas, while only 21% occur in rural areas. This is intuitive when considering the number of vehicles on the road in more densely populated areas. One in four bicycle accidents in the same year were a result of bicyclists drinking alcohol, so in order to be safe on a bicycle, a good start is to only ride a bicycle while sober, and make sure you’re wearing proper safety equipment.
Massachusetts Bicycle Accident Death Statistics
Deaths are uncommon in bicycle accidents but can still occur, and the risk should be taken seriously. According to the Massachusetts government, Massachusetts averaged about seven bicycle accident deaths per year from 2017 to 2021, making up just 2% of total vehicle accident deaths.
One of the most common locations for bicycle accident deaths was intersections, being the location of 30% of bicycle accident deaths. About half of bicycle accident deaths occurred between 12 noon and 6 p.m. As one might expect, rush hour, typically the busiest time on America’s roadways, is also the deadliest for bicyclists.
Many Bicycle Accident Deaths Are Preventable
The National Safety Council (NSC) says that there were 1,260 preventable bicycle accident deaths in 2020, which has risen significantly over the past decade, with just 873 such deaths in 2011.
Despite the rise in fatal preventable bicycle accidents, the number of preventable non-fatal injuries from bicycle accidents is actually decreasing. In 2020, there were 325,173 non-fatal injuries from bicycle accidents, which is down significantly from 536,412 in 2011.
The age demographic with the most preventable non-fatal injuries from bicycle accidents is ages 10-14 with 54,328 such accidents in 2020. The most fatal injuries from bicycle accidents belonged to the age demographic of 60-64.
The Time of Year with the Most Bicycle Accidents
Bicycle accident totals, not just in Massachusetts or Rehoboth but nationwide, tend to spike during the summer months. When the weather is warmer, conditions are better for people to ride bicycles, so there are more bicyclists on the roads and therefore more bicycle accidents.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that conditions in summer are more dangerous for bicyclists and should be avoided, just that there are more bicyclists on the road that leads to more total accidents. According to the NSC, there were 157 preventable bicycle accident deaths in the United States in August of 2020, while there were just 54 in February. The monthly average that year was 104.

We offer a free case review so you can have a lawyer listen to your story and evaluate the circumstances of your accident with no obligation to file a case if you decide not to.
No-Fault Means Insurance Companies Must Pay for the Costs of the Accident
Massachusetts is a no-fault state, which means that if you filed a case, you wouldn’t be pursuing financial compensation from a liable party, but rather from an insurance company. In no-fault states, it’s not the responsibility of the driver that may have hit you, even if the accident was their fault, to pay for the costs of the accident.
It’s your insurance company’s responsibility to pay you what you need to deal with these costs, but if you believe they aren’t paying you what you need, then a suit may be the best course of action.
Worried You Can’t Afford to Take Legal Action?
People sometimes decide not to pursue legal action even if they have a viable case because they’re concerned that they won’t be able to afford the legal services that come with a lawsuit. We try to make it so that anyone can get the legal representation they need by offering free case reviews, and in some cases offering our services for no upfront cost.
This means that you wouldn’t pay anything unless we win your case or get you a sufficient settlement. We don’t want the cost of a lawyer to be a deterrent from you getting the money you’re owed and holding accountable the insurance companies that are meant to help you. So, contact us today. You have nothing to lose.
